FAQ
Does a normal BMI mean I am healthy?
BMI is a simple index based only on weight and height. It does not account for muscle mass, body fat percentage, or body composition, so it does not fully reflect health status. Use it as a reference indicator.
Are BMI standards different for Asians?
Yes, the WHO Asia-Pacific standard is lower than the Western standard. Asians are classified as overweight at a BMI of 23 or above.
Can high muscle mass lead to a high BMI?
Yes, since BMI only reflects body weight, people with high muscle mass may have a high BMI even if they are healthy. In such cases, it is recommended to also measure body fat percentage.
